چکیده

The paper proposes a generic traffic control specification at the UNI unifying the characteristics of credit-based and rate-based schemes, and allowing implementation of both, along with other traffic control schemes, simultaneously, in an ATM network. Bandwidth Allocation for Virtual Paths in ATM Networks with Dynamic Routing

The Virtual Path (VP) concept in ATM networks simplifies network structure, traffic control and resource management. For VP formulation, a VP can carry traffic of the same type (the separate scheme) or of different types (the unified scheme). For VP adjustment, a certain amount of bandwidth can be dynamically assigned (reserved) to VPs, where the amount (the bandwidth incremental/decremental si...

M1, M2, ..., Mk/G1, G2,..., Gk/l/N Queue with Buffer Division and Push-Out Schemes for ATM Networks (RESEARCH NOTE)

In this paper, loss probabilities and steady state probabilities of data packets for an asynchronous transfer mode (ATM) network are investigated under the buffer division and push-out schemes. Data packets are classified in classes k which arrive in Poisson fashion to the service facility and are served with general service rate under buffer division scheme, finite buffer space N is divided in...

Enhanced EFCI Congestion Control Scheme for ATM Networks

Traffic management and congestion control are key issues in ATM networks. Congestion control schemes promises effective traffic management and it uses feedback information from the network to specify the maximum rate at which each source can transmit cells in to the network. In this paper, we considered an Explicit Forward Congestion Indication (EFCI) Congestion scheme, developed by ATM forum f...

Traffic Characterisation and Connection Admission Control in ATM Networks

The greatly variable requirements of different applications, particularly those of video and data sources, make high demands on the development of traffic control in ATM networks. A control scheme in ATM networks should take into account the limited knowledge of traffic behaviour, the additional expenses due to complexity and the profit achieved by high utilisation. The purpose of this study wa...

Fast Packet Switching Algorithms for Dynamic Resource Control over ATM Networks

Real-time continuous media traffic, such as digital video and audio, is expected to comprise a large percentage of the network load on future high speed packet switch networks such as ATM. A major feature which distinguishes high speed networks from traditional slower speed networks is the large amount of data the network must process very quickly. For efficient network usage, traffic control m...

A Linear Control Approach to Explicit Rate Feedback in ATM Networks

Rate-based feedback congestion control has been proposed as a form of traffic management for available bit rate traffic in ATM networks. This paper discusses applying linear control theory to these algorithms. A congestion control scheme for simple networks is designed and analyzed using the tools of classical control theory. This allows insight into the trade-offs in such schemes and suggests ...
